Marvel’s new entry into the MCU brings us back to knowing Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), who has now embraced the Captain America moniker, and Joaquin Torres (Danny Torres), the Falcon. When we last saw Sam, he grappled with being Captain America and whether the world is ready for a Black Captain America. In this movie, Sam no longer struggles with accepting who he is and what it means to people that he is Captain America. Sam is working with Thaddues Ross (Harrison Ford) on a mission to retrieve stolen adamantium taken by the Sidewinder Society, led by Sidewinder (Giancarlo Esposito). Ross is working on a treaty amongst the different countries to share this find so that no one country has control of this mineral. Ross is holding a Summit with all the world leaders to present a treaty. In the meantime, Sam feels that Torres should get some new fighting skills and learn from the best, Isaiah Bradley (Carl Lumbly). While there, Sam got an invitation to the summit and invited Torres and Isaiah to come as well. At the summit, Isaiah and four other soldiers attacked everyone present at the event, the main target was President Ross. Isaiah gets away and, when found, does not remember what happened. Sam wants to investigate, but Ross shuts him down and has his lead security, Sabrina (Shira Haas), take over the investigation. Ross, Head of Secret Service, and Laila Taylor (Xosha Roquemore), who is friendly with Sam, advise him that it would be best to stay away from this investigation.

Captain America: Brave New World has action, intrigue, and, like most Marvel movies, main character introspective and a commentary about the current state of America. It is not unlike some reviews that state this is a bad movie. The action was great, especially the flying fight scene. It gave me Top Gun Maverick vibes. It tied in 2008 The Incredible Hulk film with making one of the characters played by Tim Blake Nelson being the main antagonist of the movie and being a direct tie into that film. This movie is also a continuation of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the Disney+  show with Sam, Isaiah, and Torres, as they come into this movie and resolve a lot of issues that were addressed in the show.

This movie has a lot of heart, and Sam always chooses what is right and learns this is the main reason Steve chose him to be the next Captain America. Sam now realizes that despite his uncertainty, if the world accepts him, he can accept being Captain America, and it is what he deserves, and he will help all people. There were some statements made that Ross wanted Sam to put the Avengers back together, but with the Thunderbolts* and The Fantastic Four coming, I am not sure Sam will succeed.

The performances were fantastic. The chemistry between Mackie and Ford/Mackie and Torres was magnificent. This is what kept me into the movie. The action scenes were great, and between the flying scenes and the fight scene with Spoiler Alert, The Red Hulk was impressive. The after-credit scene does not tell us what we already know: The Multiverse is coming!
