Detective Benoit (Daniel Craig) is back in a new murder mystery. This time Det. Benoit is invited to a private Greek island by tech billionaire Miles Bron (Edward Norton). Benoit is invited to participate in a fake murder mystery by Bron who has invited his old friends Cassandra “Andi” Brand his old partner who Bron did wrong. Claire DeBella (Kathryn Hahn) who is the Governor of Connecticut and is now running for the Senate. Lionel Toussaint (Leslie Odom Jr.) the head scientist at Bron’s company. Birdie Jay (Kate Hudson) is a supermodel turned fashion designer where she may not be aware of all the things that goes int the production of the clothes she is selling. Birdie’s assistant Peg (Jessica Henwick) does her best to keep Birdie out of trouble on her social media. Duke Cody (Dave Bautista) is a Twitch streamer and a men’s right activist and his girlfriend Whiskey (Madelyn Cline) who we find that there is more to her than meets the eye.

These friends all met at a bar called The Glass Onion when they were all young up and coming students and entrepreneurs. This meet up is what they do yearly, but this year Bron wanted to shake things up by having a Murder mystery with him being the victim. The unknown factor was Detective Benoit. All of Miles Bron’s friends are all still tied to him, and some regretted him for it. Detective Benoit tries to convince Bron that having a murder mystery is dangerous for him since he really doesn’t know what his friends are up to, and that Detective Benoit was invited unbeknownst to Miles Bron.

Glass Onion is a great follow up by Director and writer Rian Johnson. This movie takes you on a journey like the original Knives Out. We are introduced to these characters, individually and as a group, we learn of their connection. I also like the way Director Rian Johnson gives a nod and wink to the audience, by giving us insight as to what each of the characters really feel about Miles Bron. The audience is intrigued to see how the twists and turns of the story happens and when death finally comes, the audience is left in shock as to who the victim is.

Daniel Craig is excellent as Detective Benoit. His arrogance of knowing that he is the smartest person in the room yet charismatic enough to get the information he needs and not come off as aggressive. The rest of the cast give great performances as well. The stand outs being Janelle Monet, Kate Hudson and Edward Norton. David Bautista is really breaking out of his Marvel mode as Duke Cody. He really showed different aspects of Cody’s character where he plays dumb, but he really isn’t. The character development of each character is good enough to make the audience suspect each of them and then when the conclusion happens and Detective Benoit lays everything out, the audience I was with made an audible gasp at the twist of this story.

Rian Johnson has brought us another good murder mystery story that has me looking forward to a 3rd one. Detective Benoit is a character that the audience loves and roots to get the answers needed to solve the case and Johnson supplies us with suspects that where any one of them could have done it. Knives Out: Glass Onion is only in theaters for a limited time and then it will be shown on Netflix on December 23rd.

I watched and missed on almost every twist I tried to figure out. It was a good movie. I hadn't seen a murder mystery in a long while.
