The Gray Man is the Joe and Anthony Russo directed film starring Ryan Gosling as Court Gentry, Ana de Armas as Dani Miranda, Rege’-Jean Page as Denny Carmichael, and Chris Evans as Lloyd Hansen. Ryan Gosling plays Court, a killer who was in jail and released early by the CIA to get rid of any assets that need to be eliminated. On his last job assigned to him by CIA supervisor Denny Carmichael to retrieve an item from that asset. Court gets the item, but soon learns that there is more than meets the eye. Soon other CIA assets are coming after Court to get what he has found. The main one being Lloyd Hansen (Evans). Court has learned from the item he took that there is corruption amongst the ranks. Dani (Armas), soon suspects that there is something more going on other than Court not killing an asset.

This movie plot is basic but believable to push the story along. Chris Evans is great as the antagonist in the movie. You can tell he was having fun in this role. The chemistry between him and Ryan Gosling makes you want to see them in a funny buddy movie. Ana De Armas holds her own as the inquisitive agent who is not sure that she is on the right side. Rege’-Jean Page is good in this role that totally erases his Bridgerton role, which was his claim to fame. Page was solid as the CIA Supervisor who is trying to keep his plan together.

The Russo brothers once again directed a great action movie. The fights to the explosions, that scene with the legendary Alfre Woodard was epic. The Gray Man gives you Mission Impossible meets John Wick. I really enjoyed watching the movie and rooted for Ryan Gosling the whole time. I never thought I would see the day where I would root against Chris Evans but here, we are. The Gray Man is a fun movie that doesn’t take itself too seriously, but a terrific addition to the action genre. Netflix approved a sequel, and the ending stays open enough to pick up where this movie left off.

The Gray Man is a fun, Saturday afternoon movie where if you don’t really care too much about the plot but more of the action, this movie is for you. The acting was great. It was easy to figure out who you want to succeed.

Let me know in the comments what you thought of The Gray Man and let’s discuss. Did you have a favorite scene? Did you enjoy Chris Evans as a bad guy?
